Is there a new H.264 player joining Tomacro and DViCo in the EM8623 line products that can handle both VC-1 and H.264? Yes, eventually there is. We had expected the release in November but seems as some quick resellers have added the NTD37HD, Novatron's latest player to their stores for around €300. It's good to have competition but likely Tomacro will remain the best performing one for VC-1 and H.264 as both DViCo and Novatron target consumers with more needs than HD alone although they end up really close to the Tomacro. The general features and functions however still cause both players from Novatron and DViCo to be listed higher un our list of recommendations.

Nothing unexpected on the Novatron NTD37HD. It will now equally offer HDMI instead of DVI while all the rest remains practically the same as the NTD36HD, beside the support of H.264 and VC-1 off course. Capable of playing backed up DVD's, it's one more player in the range of versatile media jukeboxes out there and certainly not the one with the least of pleasure to offer. Unfortunately, coverage is slim making the Novatron a brand that's hardly being heard off.

We took a stand after IFA 2007 where we discussed with Novatron the possibilities to cover the IAMM NTD37HD (as the previous model was offered by www.iamm.es ) and things looked rather positive. As always we welcome competition on the highest level and that's exactly what Novatron's intention is, getting a decent peace of the action with the IAMM NTD37HD.

Warning: Please be aware that Novatron not yet confirmed availability of the IAMM NTD36HD and the products shown might be the IAMM NTD36HD Black Edition which many vendors seem to call NTD37HD. Double check before placing an order is always the best thing to do. Notice that also IAMM's web site does not present the IAMM NTD37HD yet which is strange must the player have been released.
